St. Louis Mardi Gras 2017 Calendar Is Filled With Parades, Softball Taste of Soulard and More

St. Louis can’t claim the world’s best Mardi Gras celebration or the best in North America, but it can take pride in a very cool and uniquely St. Louis Mardi Gras calendar. From Twelfth Night on January 6th until the St. Louis Blues game on Fat Tuesday, the calendar is packed for your enjoyment. You owe it to yourself to check out at least one of these events.

Mardi Gras 2017 In St. Louis Calendar

Snowman Softball Tournament

  • Saturday and Sunday – January 28 & 29, 2017

The St. Louis Mardi Gras calendar really gets going each year with the Snowman Softball Tournament in Forest Park. Saturday is for the Coed Division and Sunday is for the more competitive Men’s Division. Prizes are awarded for the softball and for beverages consumed while not playing softball. Don’t have a team entered? Head out to Forest Park this weekend to check out the festivities.

Wine, Beer And Whiskey Taste

The Wine, Beer and Whiskey Taste may just be my favorite event on the St. Louis Mardi Gras calendar each year. Just get tickets and you’ll see why.

Cajun Cook-Off

Some of the top chefs in the St. Louis area come together under the Mardi Gras tent to compete in the Cajun Cook-Off. Spectators will enjoy some Cajun food, Cruzan Rum Hurricanes, Bud Light and more. Want to go VIP? Grab the InsideSTL Kitchen Pass.

Missouri Lottery 5K Run For Our Beads

Some people feel that the best way to start Taste of Soulard Day is with a little run through the neighborhood. I’m not one of those people, but a lot of people enjoy this each year. Dress in your Mardi Gras best, prizes are awarded for Best Costume as well as for actually running.

Cruzan Rum Taste of Soulard

  • Saturday and Sunday – February 18 & 19, 2017

Grab some buds..whoops, wrong sponsor. Grab some friends and create your own adventure in Soulard for the Cruzan Rum Taste of Soulard. $25 gets you a booklet of food & drink vouchers to use at the various establishments in the neighborhood. Some highlights of the menu this year include Deep Dish Pizza at 7th Street Bar & Grill, crab cakes at 1860’s, White Chicken Chili at Llywelyn’s, and much more.

Beggin’ Pet Parade & Weiner Dog Derby

If you look up “Sunday Funday” on Google, it might redirect you to this even’t page. The most pet-friendly day on the St. Louis Mardi Gras calendar features pets of all shapes and sizes invading the Soulard neighborhood.

After the parade of pets, enjoy some friendly betting on the Wiener Dog Dery and then a concert in Soulard Market Park. The musical act is to-be-announced. In the past the event has featured the Bacon Brothers, Barenaked Ladies and Blues Traveler.

Mayor’s Mardi Gras Ball

The classiest event on the St. Louis Mardi Gras calendar takes place in downtown St. Louis at City Hall. This year’s event will be extra special with it marking the end of Mayor Francis Slay’s tenure as the mayor of St. Louis. If you’ve ever thought about attending this event, make sure you take the opportunity to go this year.

Bud Light Grand Parade

The main event on the St. Louis Mardi Gras calendar takes place on Saturday, February 25 this year. The Bud Light Grand Parade starts at Busch Stadium and travels south to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. After the parade, head into the Soulard neighborhood for a day of music and celebrating.

Fat Tuesday

While other cities have large Fat Tuesday celebrations, St. Louisians tend to still be recovering from their trip down to the Grand Parade. Beginning a few years ago, the St. Louis Blues seem to play an annual game at home on Fat Tuesday. This year, the Blues will be taking on the Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on February 28, 2017. The Edmonton roster also features St. Louis native Patrick Maroon.

Ryan is a weird dude. He doesn't cook, yet owns a plethora of kitchen gadgets. He rationalized buying a SodaStream while unemployed. He counts Step Up 2: The Streets as one of his favorite movies along with Footloose, Rent, Grease and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. He loves Mizzou but only wants them in the SEC so he can tailgate in Nashville. He owns a ShakeWeight and AbLounger, but still loves him some John Donut and Billie's Fine Foods. You can get more of Ryan at iLoveSoulard.com or just check the stool on the far end of the bar at iTap in Soulard.
