Throw On Your Favorite St. Louis Blues Jersey And Watch Part 1 of 50 Years of the Blues: Moments and Memories

The St. Louis Blues are celebrating 50 years of Blues hockey in St. Louis this season and Andy Mohler of KSDK has dug deep into the company’s archives to produce an excellent video project titled 50 Years of the Blues: Moments and Memories. Part 1 debuted recently on KSDK and is now available online for you to stream at your leisure.

Edit: Scroll down to watch Part 2 as well.

With footage dating back to when the National Hockey League awarded St. Louis a franchise back in 1966, this video project continues this season’s excellent celebration of the St. Louis Blues franchise. The celebration has included the Blood, Sweat and Cheers exhibit at Central Library, the recent Winter Classic and its festivities and more. Speaking of more, don’t miss the One Nation Classic this weekend and St. Louis’ Greatest Pick-Up Hockey Game this Sunday.

Listen to Ron Jacober recount how the owner of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bill Wertz, played a major role in the NHL awarding an NHL franchise to St. Louis. You probably won’t believe the footage of people on the streets of St. Louis reacting to the team being called the “Blues” instead of the “Braves.” Then again, you wouldn’t believe Hall of Fame St. Louis Post Dispatch writer Rick Hummel talking about the attire worn by fans to games in the early days unless the accompanying footage weren’t included as well.

Spanning from those first days with Sid Salomon Jr. and Sid Salomon III all the way up to Brett Hull starting the demolition for Kiel Center, this is a must-watch for any St. Louis Blues fan.

Part 2 of this video project will be shown on KSDK in the next couple months. We’ll be sure to let you know when it becomes available.

EDIT: Watch Part 2 below
