John Oliver took on the subprime auto lending industry on this weekend’s episode of Last Week Tonight. Oliver got some help from Keegan-Michael Key to tell us all how awful subprime auto loans are.

Sausage Party Opens Big At Box Office

Suicide Squad easily took the weekend box office crown in its second weekend of release, but it was the debut of Sausage Party that was really the story of the weekend. The comic book antiheroes saw receipts fall 67.3 percent to an estimated $43.7 million while the vile cartoon debuted with an estimated $33.6 million

The weekend’s other two debuts, Pete’s Dragon and Florence Foster Jenkins, both under-performed with $21.5 million and $6.6 million debuts, respectively.

Old Dominion Coming To Ballpark Village

Country group Old Dominion will be coming to Ballpark Village on October 1 for a show on the Busch II Infield stage. The show kicks off the Live! season at the downtown St Louis venue. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $30 for VIP.

Old Dominion has been one of the hottest bands on country radio lately with ‘Song For Another Time”, “Break Up With Him” and “Snapback.”

Ryan Lochte Among Swimmers Robbed In Rio

Ryan Lochte was among a group of four U.S. Olympic swimmers who were robbed late Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro. Lochte gave his story to NBC on Sunday morning while the IOC initially denied the reports. Lochte said that the men, who carried a police badge, pulled over their taxi and pulled guns on the group. At one point, one of the men put a gun to Lochte’s head. The robbers took various things from the group, including Lochte’s wallet and cell phone.

Michael Phelps Announces Retirement

Michael Phelps announced today on the TODAY Show that he is done with competitive swimming. Phelps has won five gold medals and six medals overall at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. In his career, he has won 28 medals overall with 23 of them being gold.

 

Dale Schilly Let Go As Saint Louis FC Coach

Saint Louis FC announced today that Dale Schilly has been relieved of “head coaching duties” and assistant coach Tim Leonard will be taking over the team. STLFC fell 4-3 over the weekend at home to Sacramento Republic FC after going down 3-0 early in the game.

Saint Louis FC is currently 10th in the USL West with 28 points on the season. The club travels to the Kansas City area later this week to face the Swope Park Rangers this Sunday.

Adele Says She Turned Down Super Bowl Halftime Gig, Pepsi And NFL Deny

Adele told a crowd at one of her concerts recently that she turned down an invitation to perform at halftime of Super Bowl 51. She claimed that a prime reason she turned down the invitation was because she can’t dance. The NFL and Pepsi released a joint statement today saying that while they are fans of Adele, they didn’t formally ask her to perform at the halftime show.

DeAnna Price Finishes 8th In Women’s Hammer Throw

DeAnna Price of Moscow Mills, Missouri competed this morning in the finals of the Women’s Hammer Throw competition in Rio. Price, a graduate of Troy Buchanan High School, finished 8th overall with a best throw of 70.95 meters, Fellow American Amber Campbell finished 6th with a best thrown of 72.74 meters.

Anita Wlodarczyk’s (Poland) best throw of 82.29m set a world record and won her the gold medal.

Colleen Quigley Finishes 8th In Steeplechase Final

St. Louisan Colleen Quigley finished eighth overall in the women’s steeplechase final this morning in Rio. Quigley is a graduate of Nerinx Hall here in St. Louis. Fellow American Emma Coburn finished third overall and, with the bronze medal, became the first American woman to ever medal in the event.
