Downtown

Coldplay: A British rock band with lead vocalist Chris Martin (and recent ex-husband of Gwyneth Paltrow), achieved fame in 2000 with their hit song “Yellow.” They have sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making them one of the world’s best-selling music artists, have won 7 Grammys, 5 MTV VMAs, and many other awards including 6 Q Awards, 4 Billboard Awards, and 3 World Music Awards. they are currently touring, promoting their latest album, A Head Full Of Dreams, their 7th studio album. Openers include R&B/Soul singer, Alessia Cara and Rock & Pop singer, Foxes.

St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals take on the LA Dodgers this weekend at home from Friday through Sunday immediately folowing their series against the Padres. Friday night’s promotion is a Matt Holliday bobblehead presented by AAA. It’s also autograph night: Tommy Pham and TBD will appear from 5:45-6:15pm to sign for kids 15 and under. Kyle McClellan and Cliff Politte will appear from 6:15-7pm to sign for fans of all ages. Saturday night’s game giveaway is a 1956 throwback road gray Cardinals Jersey. This jersey was the only uniform worn by the Cardinals that did not feature birds on the bat. On Sunday, The Build-A-Bear workshop will work overtime to make sure that 12,000 young Cardinals fans take home their very own bear.

Taste of Downtown: A summer series event highlighting the many restaurants in Downtown St. Louis. The first event will be held on July 23 from 4-8pm in the pedestrian plaza in the MX District. There will be small bites available for purchase from local restaurants, local craft beer and other beverages, and live music. Participating Restaurants include: Taze Mediterranean Street Food, Sugarfire STL, Tigin Irish Pub, Ruth’s Chris St. Louis, Robust Downtown at The MX, Cielo Restaurant & Bar, Wheelhouse Downtown, Porano, Pharaohs Donuts, and Three-Sixty Rooftop Bar.

Summer Jam & Pig Roast: St. Louis BWorks is hosting a pig roast and silent auction to benefit their organization, which helps children and youth in St. Louis discover their potential through bicycles (Bicycle Works), books (Book Works) and bytes (Byte Works). Performances during the event will be from Susan Marting and Joe Stickley. Tickets are $20/person in advance or $25 at the door (½ price for kids age 12-18 and free for kids under age 12) and include entrance, one beverage and pig roast. Silent auction items include gift certificates to Salt & Smoke, Pi Pizza, four green seats at a Cardinals baseball game ($1,400 value), Blues Museum, Savor Saint Louis Food Tours, VIP Schlafly Brew Tour, Artcrank bicycle posters, and more.

Legends of the Dome: Join Rams legends led by Isaac Bruce in a flag football showdown at the Dome as we raise money for the Isaac Bruce Foundation and relive great memories! Isaac will be joined by members of the Greatest Show on Turf including Kurt Warner, Dick Vermeil, Mike Martz, Torry Holt, Ricky Proehl, Az Hakim, Mike Jones, and many more as well as other Rams legends. The event will give the players a chance to thank fans and give St. Louis a chance to celebrate great memories. You won’t want to miss the last game in the Dome! The Legends of the Dome auction is open now and you can bid on incredible opportunities like attending the player’s private dinner, autograph session passes, serving as the game’s coin toss captain, and lot of great items. Tickets are $15 and $20.

Food Truck Frolic: The Food Truck Frolic events are great family events featuring 18 of the best Food Trucks in the St. Louis area, as well as vendors, music, a family movie night and family fun for all ages. This month’s movie is: The Angry Birds Movie. The food truck line-up includes: Kona Ice, Locoz Tacoz, Chris’ Smokehouse, Pyro’s Pizza, Sarah’s Cake Stop, Mel’s Food Truck, My Big Fat Greek Truck, Slice of the Hill, Steak Louie, Thai Jasmine, The Meltdown, STL Kettlecorn, and many more!

Artist Reception: Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts will host an Artist Reception at City Hall. The reception will offer an intimate setting for art enthusiasts to meet the artists and an opportunity to discuss the inspiration behind their artwork. The event is free to attend and light hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served. The City of Chesterfield will be hosting an Art Exhibit at City Hall beginning July 8, 2016 through September 30, 2016. The exhibit will be on display in the City Hall lobby, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (excluding holidays) and will feature two-dimensional artwork, including mixed media, paintings and photographs from established regional artists Dail Chambers, Steven Walden and Henryk Ptasiewicz and ceramic artist, Elizabeth Dorman.

Movies Under The Stars: Experience the unique atmosphere, sights and sounds of watching a movie outdoors on the giant inflatable screen at the Chesterfield Amphitheater! Bring out the family for this great event that is returning for its fourth year. This month’s free movie is: Inside Out. Don’t forget your chair or blanket. You can bring your own refreshments or purchase them from the concession stand. There will also be a Shoe Drive Drop-Off. Bring new or gently used shoes to help provide safe water to people around the world.

Classic Soul Festival: Gifted Lives presents the Classic Soul Festival featuring War and Switch live in concert at the Chesterfield Amphitheater. WAR is an American funk band from Long Beach, California, known for the hit songs “Spill the Wine”, “The World Is a Ghetto”, “The Cisco Kid”, “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”, “Low Rider”, and “Summer.” Swith is an R&B/funk band with popular hit songs such as “There’ll Never Be”, “I Call Your Name” and “Love Over & Over Again.” Big George Brock will open the festival. During his career, Big George has played shows with blues legends like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed and many others. Tickets start at $30.

St. Louis Football Club: St. Louis’ professional soccer league is back home this weekend to match up against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Saturday night’s game will include a Paparazzi fan photo shoot, sneak peek giveaways, and a movie night. Plus the first 1500 fans will receive an STLFC movie poster. Purchase single game tickets starting at $14 or get the Beat The Heat Pack which includes 4 general admission tickets, 2 general admission flex tickets, and an STLFC cooler back pack for any July match for $69.

Carondelet Concerts in the Park: A longstanding annual celebration of diverse music, hosting local musicians at various parks in the Carondelet neighborhood. These concerts have been a staple in the community for more than 25 years, attracting thousands of attendees. Each week features a different variety of music and other activities including craft fairs, childrens book-reading with the St. Louis Public Library during concert intermission and more. This week’s live music is from the Big Shake Daddies.

Hollywood Dash:a one-mile run followed by a community celebration and a family movie. The wide open one mile course is designed to help serious runners get their new personal record while also allowing enough space for people of all abilities and needs. Before the race, enjoy a resoure fair and fun activities including the Bubble Bus. Following the race, there will be awards and a family movie. Complimentary coffee will be provided by Picasso’s Coffee House for all runners and volunteers.

Dogs of Society: A Tribute to Elton John & Silver Bullet STL: A Tribute to Bob Seger: Dogs of Society: A Tribute to Elton John puts on an energetic rock show perfect for all ages and events. Led by John Gore’s “spot-on” vocals, The Dogs deliver a rockin’ musical experience more faithful to the spirit of the classic Elton John recordings. Featuring a killer lineup of accomplished musicians including John Gore, Steve Johnston, Shannon Bengford, Curt Shaw and Dave Johnson, the seasoned pros of Dogs of Society can often be found playing shows throughout the Midwest. Silver Bullet STL: A Tribute to Bob Seger is an 8-piece tribute sung by Steve Tinnon, whose voice is uncannily reminiscent of Bob Seger. The members of several great St. Louis based bands have come together to form Silver Bullet; a tribute to the great Bob Seger and his music. From the 60’s to the pesent day, the history of Blue-Collar America has been a written with the music of Bob Seger as a backdrop. Tickets are $10.

However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
