Amazon Advertises 100,000 Deals Will Be Available To Prime Members For The Second-Annual “Prime Day”

Amazon has announced that it will stage the “Prime Day” online shopping extravaganza on July 12, 2016, which it started last year as a “Black Friday” event for mid-summer. The company is touting the event as the “biggest global Amazon event ever” with 100,000 deals available only to Amazon Prime members. Last year, Amazon claims shoppers purchased 398 items per second.

UPDATE Head over to Amazon to check out their Prime Day Countdown Deals. You’ll find limited-time deals like a 32-inch LED tv and an Amazon Fire TV stick for $119.99.

While all of the details on the sales aren’t available with this announcement, some are. The BLU R1 HD unlocked mobile phone will be released on July 12 with the 8 GB version with 1 GB of RAM selling for $49.99, a $50 savings from its $99.99 listed price. A version with double the storage and double the RAM will sell for just $10 more.

Amazon is running a Prime music promotion from now until Prime Day featuring playlists curated for 12 popular musicians, including Carrie Underwood, Blink-182, Norah Jones, Pentatonix and others. Listen to the playlists daily for your chance to win tickets to their concerts all over the country.

You could win a  $5,000 Amazon gift card just for uploading a photo to Amazon Photos in another promotion.

The company has set up a Facebook Events page for Amazon Prime Day 2016 where they will be sharing tips, tricks and news about the promotion.

Amazon Prime offers Amazon shoppers a host of benefits for a $99 yearly fee, the most notable being free two-day shipping on millions of items. Other benefits include free unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos, unlimited streaming with Prime Video, a six-month free trial of the Washington Post, free Kindle books with Kindle First and more.
