Chris Stapleton’s Loufest appearance will mark his second visit to St. Louis in less than three months. He plays the Fox Theatre on June 30th. That show is sold out.
LCD Soundsystem is headlining music festivals across the country and overseas this season, including Austin City Limits and Lovebox. The band “retired” five years ago with a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden, but reunited for the Coachella festival earlier this year.
No one can say that Lauryn Hill’s music career hasn’t been interesting since the massive success of The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. Stereogum wrote an extensive piece back in 2013. Rolling Stone wrote about the “mystery” way back in 2003. Organizers hope to not see a repeat of Hill’s appearance in Atlanta, where the singer claimed her driver “got lost” and caused her to show up two hours late. Hill recently drew positive reviews for her headlining performance at the Diaspora Calling! festival in April.
One of Loufest’s organizers, Mike Van Hee, told Kevin C. Johnson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that organizers want to set attendance records on the strength of this entertainment lineup. Recently, Hill was in the news with what appeared to be a miscommunication over her expected performance at the Grammy awards.
Night one of Loufest, September 10, will face competition of the queen variety as Beyoncé will play just a few miles away at Scottrade Center downtown that evening.
