Ms. Lauryn Hill, LCD Soundsystem and Chris Stapleton highlight the Loufest 2016 lineup, which was announced this morning. The music festival will feature more than 30 musical acts and take place September 10 & 11, 2016 in Forest Park in St. Louis.

The daily schedules for Loufest were announced last night. Chris Stapleton will headline Saturday (Sept. 10) and play the closing set. LCD Soundsystem will play the closing set on Sunday night (Sept.11) with Ms. Lauryn Hill and Shakey Graves playing separate stages at 7 pm.

Loufest organizers tweeted out the musical lineup at 3:57 AM this morning. Each day’s lineup will be announced at a later date.

Aside from the three headliners, other national music acts appearing include Band of Horses, Big Gigantic, The Kills, Buddy Guy, Shakey Graves, St. Lucia, Vince Staples, Greensky Bluegrass, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band,Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Frightened Rabbit, The Heavy, Wild Belle, Twin Peaks, Judha and the Lion, Rayland Baxter, Caveman, Chicano Batman, Diarrhea Planet, Mothers, The Quaker City Hawks, Twin Lamb, Hawas and Bonnie Bishop.

Local acts on the schedule include Foxing, John Henry, Brusier Queen and Karate Bikini.

As expected, reactions to the announcement on Twitter were less than enthusiastic.

Chris Stapleton’s Loufest appearance will mark his second visit to St. Louis in less than three months. He plays the Fox Theatre on June 30th. That show is sold out.

LCD Soundsystem is headlining music festivals across the country and overseas this season, including Austin City Limits and Lovebox. The band “retired” five years ago with a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden, but reunited for the Coachella festival earlier this year.

No one can say that Lauryn Hill’s music career hasn’t been interesting since the massive success of The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. Stereogum wrote an extensive piece back in 2013. Rolling Stone wrote about the “mystery” way back in 2003. Organizers hope to not see a repeat of Hill’s appearance in Atlanta, where the singer claimed her driver “got lost” and caused her to show up two hours late.  Hill recently drew positive reviews for her headlining performance at the Diaspora Calling! festival in April.

One of Loufest’s organizers, Mike Van Hee, told Kevin C. Johnson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that organizers want to set attendance records on the strength of this entertainment lineup. Recently, Hill was in the news with what appeared to be a miscommunication over her expected performance at the Grammy awards.

Night one of Loufest, September 10, will face competition of the queen variety as Beyoncé will play just a few miles away at Scottrade Center downtown that evening.

Tickets to the 2016 edition of Loufest are available for purchase at Loufest.com. Early Bird passes quickly sold out. A General Admission Two-Day Pass is available for $95. A VIP Weekend Pass, which includes complimentary food and drink and a parking pass for the weekend, can be had for $350. Go! Magazine is giving away a Loufest 2016 VIP package.
