Opening This Weekend
Mother’s Day
Surprisingly enough, Mother’s Day is not a sequel to 2010’s Valentine’s Day, despite several similarities. Both, of course, share their titles with “Hallmark Holidays” and both feature star-packed casts. Oh, they also both have star Julia Roberts and director Garry Marshall in common. The 2010 film, which also starred Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway and others, debuted with $56.3 million back in 2010 on its way to a $216.5 million worldwide gross.
Mother’s Day fills out its cast with the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Shalke, Kate Hudson, Jon Lovitz and Jason Sudekis, among others.

Keanu
Keanu is not a Keanu Reeves biopic, although Reeves does voice Keanu the cat in the film. This movie also marks the big-screen debut for comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. The plot of the film revolves around the chase to get the pet cat of Peele’s character Rell Williams back after it get abducted. This, of course, isn’t a normal “abduction” either.
Todd M. Thatcher predicts Keanu will see an opening weekend of $17.6 million.
