“Trick” Before The “Treat”

When I was a child I loved Trick-or-Treating! I definitely wasn’t going to miss out on a TON of FREE CANDY! No matter the weather conditions, Halloween could not be ruined!

If you’re from St. Louis you know there has to be a “Trick” before the “Treat.” On Halloween, children in the St. Louis area dress up in costumes and run house to house in their neighborhood, filling their Halloween buckets, totes, or pillowcases with candy. They exchange a trick, typically a joke, for a treat! This is a St. Louis Halloween Tradition that I absolutely love!

Even though I would still love to dress up and go Trick-or-Treating, I decided to retire, so I wouldn’t look creepy. A few years ago I could probably still get away with it, but now that I’m over 30 that’s just pushing it! I have now been promoted to the Candy Taste Tester, and that’s a really important job!!  You know, I sit outside with a big bowl of yummy candy and make sure it’s edible (that’s the nice thing to do) and wait for the kiddos to arrive and entertain me.

Do you know what makes my Halloween night?

I’ll give you a hint: it’s not the costumes.

I’ll give you another hint: it’s not the candy (even though I really love candy)

Do you need another hint?

Did I hear jokes??

That’s right…I love jokes!!   Even better, I love cheesy jokes!!  I make a pretty easy audience too, because I laugh at everything.

So in preparation for Halloween this weekend,  I wanted to share some of my favorite cheesy jokes that I’ve heard throughout the years. Feel free to use them (I know you’ll want to).

What did the hat say to the hat rack?

You stay here; I’ll go on a head.

What’s it like to be kissed by a vampire?

It’s a pain in the neck.

What do you call two witches living together?

Broommates

Why did the scarecrow get a raise?

He was out-standing in his field.
