Furious 7 Passes $1 Billion Worldwide
Furious 7 made it 3-for-3 with its third weekend box office win in three weekends of release. The tribute to the late Paul Walker brought in $29 million and will likely pass $300 million domestically by tomorrow. Vin Diesel and company have racked up an astonishing $858.3 million overseas in less than three full weeks of release. Furious 7 has earned $250.5 million in China in just 7 days of release.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, which spends a bit too much time in the slow lane, but is overall pretty enjoyable, came in second over the weekend with $24 million in its debut. With $10 million in sales overseas it has already passed its $30 million budget. The horror flick Unfriended rounded out the top three with $16 million in its debut.
I’ll have more on the box office numbers on Thursday in my Weekend Movie Guide. I’ll also take a look at The Age of Adaline The Water Diviner and Little Boy, which also stars Kevin James.
