startup weekend Startup Weekend St. Louis: A global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities. Come share ideas, form teams, and launch startups. The events will include a networking dinner, breakfast, speakers, pitches, presentations, and judging and awards. Judges include CEO or Moosylvania, Juney Ham, Co-Founder of Upside, Kelly Hamilton, CEO of ALIVE Magazine, and more. Register in advance.

whitaker Whitaker International Film Festival: This year marks the 23rd annual festival. The event will screen 389 films: 89 narrative features, 76 documentary features, and 224 shorts. The fest will host more than 125 filmmakers and related guests, including honorees Doug Pray (Contemporary Cinema Award), Katie Mustard (Women in Film Award), and Timothy J. Sexton (Charles Guggenheim Cinema St. Louis Award). The festival will open with the premiere of “The Makings of You,” a St. Louis set and shot drama by Matt Amato. Amato, an award-winning director of music videos and commercials, returned to his hometown of St. Louis to shoot his feature debut. Special events include: Bob Reuter’s Last Tape with Concert by Bob Reuter’s Alley Ghost, a children’s film showcase, Spectacular, Spectacular, Tenacious Eats: A Hard Day’s Night, Dance on Film in conjunction with Dance St. Louis, and tons of free event.

applause Applause: The 2014 Stages St. Louis Gala is an everything goes celebration of Broadway to benefit the organization’s Education and Artistic Programs. Join Broadway performer and St. Louis native, Lisa Rothauser, and Grammy nominated producer and songwriter Tor Hyams, with special guest Jack Lane for an evening of Broadway standards including songs from the upcoming 2015 productions Smokey Joe’s Café and Anything Goes! The event will include a silent auction with items including an Escape to Sea Island, GA, Cardinals Box Seat tickets, Napa vacation, Miranda Lambert concert tickets, and more.

big muddy dance co The Big Muddy Dance Co Season Kick-off: An exciting evening of dance and live music. The company performance will include the favorite “Frankie and Johnny” by Harrison McEldowney, “Punctuations” by Sam Watson, and the new work from New Dance Horizons, “A Mariner” by Kate Skarpetowska, and more. After the performance, kick up your own heels on the dance floor with St. Louis Big Band playing live. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Tickets are $20.

GreenBall The Green Ball: Shimmer into your emerald sequins and shake your teal tuxedo tails at the 5th annual Green Ball. Tickets at $40 for garden members or $50 for non-members include an evening full of fun: creative cocktails, beer and wine, locally-sourced cuisine and desserts and swing dancing to the hot jazz of Miss Jubilee. The Green Ball benefits the EarthWays Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden, supporting some of our region’s best sustainability education work. Creative “green” attire is encouraged. Costume contest prizes are swell and sustainable.

ThompsonSquare Hot Country Nights: Ballpark Village introduces 92.3 WIL Hot Country Nights Presented By Ford. Every Friday night from November until March, Ballpark Village will feature some of the top country artists. This Friday kicks off the series with American country music duo, Thompson Square. You can purchase tickets in advance for $11 or $30 for VIP. Tickets will be more expensive day of event.

art314 Art:314: A silent auction and party benefiting CAM’s Open Studios STL program and Front Room exhibition series. Dance and enjoy an open bar throughout the evening. The silent auction features a diverse group of over 25 St. Louis artists with works starting at $200. Participating artists receive 50% of all proceeds from their work, making it a great way to add to or start your art collection while supporting the St. Louis art community. Featured artists include Jamie Adams, Brandon Anshultz, Lyndon Barrois Jr, Heather Bennett, Nanette Boileau, Martin Brief, Bunny Burson, Hunter Creel, and tons more. tattoo expo St. Louis Old School Tattoo Expo: This year marks the 10th anniversary expo. Where modern tattooing meets tradition. It’s 3 days of tattooing from the Best Tattoo Artists from around the world, contests, seminars and presentations. Viewing of the movie “Tattoo Nation” will be shown every day at the expo before the tattoo contest. Tattoo artist, Big Gus, from the show “Tattoo Nightmares” will be at the event on Saturday from 5-6pm. Alli Baker from the TV show “Best Ink” will be at the event. The official after party will take place at Koken Art Factory on Nov 15 at 9pm with music from the Cara Louise Band, The Traveling Sound Machine, and DJ Chrissi J. Tickets: $20 day, $50 weekend, or $75 VIP Expo Pass – gets you access to 3 days at the Expo, a free T-shirt and expo coffee mug, free admission to the Artist Meet and Greet, and free admission to the after party.

art st louis Art St. Louis XXX, The Exhibition: Please join Art Saint Louis for the 30th annual all media, all styles, all themes juried exhibition, Art St. Louis XXX, The Exhibition, presented in the Art Saint Louis Gallery in downtown St. Louis. This juried exhibition features 54 artworks by 43 St. Louis regional artists from Missouri and Illinois. Serving as Juror for this year’s exhibit is Nancy Newman Rice, an artist and founding member of Art Saint Louis. Art Saint Louis will host a free opening reception Saturday, November 15, from 6 to 9pm. The exhibit remains on view through Tuesday, December 23, 2014.

coronado Carnival at the Coronado: Join the Friends of the Saint Louis University Liver Center for the 12th Anniversary of the Diamonds Gala – “Carnival at the Coronado.” The evening’s festivities will include a cocktail reception, a sumptuous three-course sit-down dinner and a live auction, plus carnival games and a raffle drawing. KSDK’s anchor Pat McGonigle is the Master of Ceremonies, and there will be the 2014 presentations of “The Naomi Judd Award” and the “Volunteer of the Year Award”. Tickets for the “Diamonds Gala” event are $200 per person, or a table of ten is available for $2,000. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the SLU Liver Center, which supports the research efforts of the world-renowned Saint Louis University Liver Center for the treatment and cure of liver diseases, and promotes understanding and awareness of liver disease.

St. Louis Rams Rams vs Broncos: With a fourth quarter loss against the Cardinals in last Sunday’s game, the Rams are back on home turf to take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday. Tickets start at $86.55. Before the game you can hang out at Ballpark Village for drinks, lawn games, live music, and fun and then #FollowTheHerd drum line parade to the festival with other Rams fans.

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
