Reasons Why Taylor Swift Is Awesome

Taylor Swift is awesome. I’ve come to terms with the fact that it’s Taylor’s world and we are all just living in it. Her latest album, 1989, sold more than 1.2 million copies in its first week of release. It followed that up with another $402,000 in sales in its second week. The 1.2 million copies in a week is the highest of the year for an album. Second place? Her second week sales figure.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why Taylor Swift is awesome, but here are things that factor into it.

Taylor makes a lot of money each year from a variety of sources. That’s why she can afford to take her music off services like Spotify, even though she made an estimated $300,000 just from streams of “Shake It Off” and she stood to make an estimated $6 million in total this year from Spotify. While the jump in her YouTube and Vevo views the next week can’t ALL be attributed to this move, something has to account for those doubling. Her Spotify move can be traced back to this stance she took in the Wall Street Journal back in July. It’s a stance that’s mostly the same as Garth Brooks’, even though he isn’t a fan of YouTube at all.

What does Taylor do when she’s running through a park in Nashville and sees a couple young girls getting their pictures taken?

She decides to pose for some fun pictures with them.

She likes to send her fans holiday gifts. She wrote a song called “Tim McGraw” and then sang it to Tim McGraw at the 2007 American Country Music Awards.

She followed that performance up with this performance of “Should’ve Said No” at the 2008 ACMs

Taylor has so many awesome things about her that we can overlook the fact she dated Harry Styles of One Direction. And John Mayer. And Joe Jonas. And Taylor Lautner. I’m fine with Jake Gyllenhaal because he A) has also dated Kirsten Dunst and Reese Witherspoon B) is awesome in Nightcrawler and C) once went out on Halloween as a Cranberry Juice Box.  Sometimes Taylor gets her friends like Kate Upton together and goes to see the New York Knicks play basketball.

Taylor has a rap alter-ego named T-Swizzle and rapped with T-Pain on “Thug Life”

Taylor loves coffee and is staying single until she finds someone she loves as much as coffee. Your current significant other can’t compare to coffee? Dump them like this girl did, using 25 Taylor Swift songs.

Even at least one Metal guitarist is starting to fall into Taylor’s magical grasp. (Hint: Click to read his caption)

She has plenty of haters. She’s feuding with Katy Perry. Perry’s boyfriend says Taylor needs a booty.

Taylor has famous, awesomely talented friends that jump to her defense.

In the end, she just shakes it off.

Taylor Swift just keeps getting more and more awesome as the years go by. She keeps letting her crazy show, like in this Rolling Stone piece from earlier this year. Swift takes it all in stride. She’s able to adapt, overcome, and poke fun at herself.

Oh and she sings to her hits in the car. In the exact way we all do, with hands motions, facial expressions, and everything.

Taylor Swift comes to St. Louis as part of her 1989 World Tour on September 28 at Scottrade Center.  Tickets go on sale January 30 at 10 A.M.
