On Saturday night, the St. Louis Rams and Michael Sam made history when the team selected him with the 249th pick overall in the NFL draft. He becomes the first openly gay player drafted into the league. As a 7th round pick, Sam faces an uphill battle to make Jeff Fisher’s squad. Sam celebrated with his family and boyfriend, former Missouri swimmer Vito Cammisano. A picture of the pair kissing was the iconic photo of the evening. Don Jones of the Miami Dolphins has already been fined for a tweet he posted about Sam getting drafted.

Marshall Henderson, the former Ole Miss Runnin’ Rebel, had an interesting tweet this morning about the topic and then went on to reveal in a series of tweets it was all an experiment.

Donald Sterling asks for forgiveness; Shelly speaks to Barbara Walters

The Donald Sterling fiasco is just getting nuttier. Estranged wife Shelly Sterling told Barbara Walters and ABC News that she will fight to keep her share of the team and has been “trying” to divorce Donald for 20 years. Apparently her attorney and financial advisor are keeping her from doing that. Don’t buy too much into whatever Mrs. Sterling says. She has quite the history herself of racist statements. Donald talked to CNN and suggested that this is his first “mistake” in 35 years and he is not racist. I guess all of the other things he has had to settle in court don’t count. Sterling also talked about how he doesn’t think Magic Johnson is a good role model for the children of Los Angeles.
