Malaysian Airlines Crashed on Southern Indian Ocean

The Malaysian prime minister held a press conference this morning to announce that they confirmed flight MH370 crashed in a remote part of the Indian Ocean. A text message early this morning told family members that it is believed there are no survivors. Satellites from the United States, China and France all showed what is thought to be debris from the plane floating in recent days.  It’s been 17 days since the plane went down. Media outlets ran out of things to talk about by the end of the first week. Here’s a collection of the more ridiculous stories about the plane’s disappearance.

Bacon was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday night. He came on stage in this magical, magical way.


 

Divergent Brings in $56 Million

The film based on the young adult novels topped the weekend box office and proved to be a solid start for the studio’s franchise plans. Muppets Most Wanted finished second with a $16.5 million opening weekend and Mr. Peabody & Sherman brought in $11.7 millions in its third weekend. 300: Rise of an Empire came in fourth with $8.7 million in its third weekend. The Christian-themed God’s Not Dead opened to a very surprising $8.6 million. The film was only shown on 780 screens around the country. It brought in almost $11,000 per screen whereas Muppets averaged just over $5,000 per screen.

Israel Embassies Around the World Close

Israel’s Foreign Ministry employees went on strike yesterday, resulting in the closure of their embassies around the world. The employees have been in a dispute with the country’s Finance Ministry for two years over issues like salaries. 1,200 employees are part of the strike.

Mila and Ashton Having A Baby

Mila Kunis and Aston Kutcher are expecting a baby, according to a friend of the couple. The friend also told PEOPLE that the recently-engaged couple hasn’t started planning their wedding yet.

Workers are Dying In Qatar Preparing For World Cup

Qatar is hosting the 2022 World Cup in what is one of the most ridiculous sports things ever. The country basically has to build everything like stadiums and infrastructure from the ground up. The International Trade Union Confederation issued a report that estimated 4,000 migrant workers will die in Qatar before 2022. The only people who dispute the idea that Qatar bought the World Cup are people like the former FIFA vice president who was paid millions for his vote.

Mark Cuban Thinks the NFL Will Implode

Cuban thinks the league is being entirely too greedy and over-exposing their product. “When pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.”

March Madness Sweet 16 Field Set

The field has been set and the games will take place on Thursday and Friday night this week. The games will start with Dayton and Stanford playing on Thursday night and will end with Kentucky-Louisville and Michigan State-Virginia in the late games Friday night.

Cardinals Rotation Set. Wacha to Pitch Home Opener

The St. Louis Cardinals finalized their pitching rotation today. Adam Wainwright, Lance Lynn, Shelby Miller, Michael Wacha and Joe Kelly will be the five starters. Wainwright will start the season opener at Cincinnati next Monday and Wacha will start the Home Opener at Busch Stadium

 

 

GWAR Frontman Dead

Dave Brockie was found dead in his home yesterday. He was 50 years old. Brockie was more well-known as Oderus Urungus, the GWAR lead vocalist. The over-the-top Metal band recently celebrated their 30th anniversary and released their 13th album last year. Foul play is not suspected in the death.

Blues Clinch Playoff Spot

Despite a record of 47-16-7 heading into yesterday’s game, the St. Louis Blues hadn’t officially clinched a playoff spot. They did that yesterday with a 1-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Brian Elliot made 33 saves in earning his 16th shutout as a Blue. He is now tied for second on the All-Time Shutouts list with Glenn Hall. The recently traded Jaroslav Halak holds the top spot with 20.

New X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer
The film will open on Memorial Day Weekend of this year.
