maplewood sweet tooth Maplewood Sweet Tooth Tour: Warm your tummy and enliven your taste buds at the first annual self-guided Maplewood Sweet Tooth Tour. Maplewood’s fine food purveyors offer you goodies galore as you stroll from shop to shop. Sample chocolates, pies, donuts, teas, cakes, coffees, breads and specialty drinks made especially for you by our artisan food purveyors. Participating shops include: Kakao Chocolate, Foundation Grounds, Vom Fass, Great Harvest Bakery, La Cosecha Coffee Roasters, Traveling Tea, Strange Donuts, Pie Oh My, Encore Baking Co. Tickets are $15/person (advanced tickets required).

hhh Handmade Happy Hour: The third annual Handmade Happy Hour will be a Sweetheart Edition. 100% of proceeds from a $5 suggested donation will benefit The Coolfire Foundation. Come early and  enjoy light drinks and snacks. The event will feature locally sourced, handmade and ethically imported goods. This event’s illustrator is Michelle Volansky. Vendors include: Buddha Body & Bath, Praxis Design, Jessica Barbara Studio, Zettie’s Confections, Fable & Lore, beqi clothing, Scarlett and Maria, Juxtapose Vintage, Lily Dawson Designs, Scarlett Garnet Jewelry, Creature Type, Envisage Vintage Jewelry, Mobili-tees , Native Pops, Elise Landy, and more.

lnyf Lunar New Year Festival 2014: The Lunar New Year Festival is an annual event celebrating the Lunar New Year and promoting awareness of the different aspects of Asian culture from China to Korea and more. The show, held is a student-run production and promotes interaction and unity among the various Asian groups on campus. Through a great variety of exciting performances of acting, dancing, and music, people of all backgrounds can enjoy and celebrate the New Year together. Tickets are $10.

Taste delicious syrup, sugar on snow taffy and pure maple sugar. More importantly, learn do to all of this right in your own backyard. It’s a day your whole family will enjoy.

train The Great Train Expo: Check out the national traveling show that caters to the model railroad enthusiast. The show features 200-500 tables of train dealers offering a variety of operating model railroad and toy layouts for the entire family to enjoy in many different scales and gauges, plus hobby tools, die-cast vehicles, train whistles, scenery items, Railroadiania Slides, t-shirts, videos, railroad gift items, books, photos, and more. Check out free workshops for beginners and experienced modelers. If you’re interested in joining a local model railroading club, the Great Train Expo is a great place to visit some of the different clubs in your area and learn more about them.There are trains for kids to operate, hourly door prizes, and more. Admission is $9 for adults, free for kids under 12.

Bruno-Mars-Super-Bowl-2014-Poster Super Bowl XLVII: The Super Bowl is this Sunday, February 2nd between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks featuring “the best corner in the game” adding a little bit of extra drama to this year’s bowl. Kick off is at 6:30E/5:30C. Renée Fleming will sing the National Anthem and Bruno Mars will perform for the half-time show, joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Check out the list of local bars and restaurants hosting fun parties and events.
