nevermore jazz ball Nevermore Jazz Ball and Swing Festival: A unique dance and music festival bringing you multiple nights of exceptional live music in historic St. Louis venues, world class instruction in various vintage jazz dances, including lindy hop and St. Louis Shag, and the best that the city has to offer. Join the Welcome Dance at Schafly Tap Room featuring Wack-A-Doo on Thursday evening, the Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl on Saturday, the STL Shag contest on Sunday evening, and all of the great events in between. best of st. louis Best of St. Louis 2013: The RFT’s annual “Who’s The Best in Our City” party. This year’s theme: Mind Control. The event will announce the 2013 Best of St. Louis winners, and will include great food from local restaurants, including: Serendipity, Wheelhouse, Frida’s Deli, Salume Beddu, Adam’s Smokehouse, and Central Table. Enjoy drinks from Schlafly, Yellow Tail, and Ciroc, plus live art and airbrush tattoos, fun performances from past winners, and live music from great local bands such as Dr. Zhivegas, The Jungle Fire, and more. GA tickets are $20, VIP tickets are $50.

cupcake run Cupcake Run and Bottlecap Dash: The 2nd annual event benefiting the Lift For Life Academy, features two fun runs in St. Louis. First, the Gateway Cupcake 5K Run & Walk, where you get to enjoy eating 5 delicious Jilly’s Cupcakes throughout the race. Second, the Bottlecap Dash, a 5K Obstacle Course where you get to pick your favorite beers along the way. If you complete all obstacles, you go home with a 6-pack assortment of those beers (or Fitz’s Root Beer or Crown Valley soda). Be the Best of Both and receive a certificate for an in-home wine tasting compliments of PRP Wine.

veterans day 30th Annual Veterans Day Observance: Beginning at 10am, the event will include food and music. The Veteran’s Day ceremony begins at 10:30am with a Veteran’s Postage Stamp Dedication. This is followed by the parade at noon. Check the Facebook page for the official parade route.

photo Fair Trade Holiday Sale: 4th annual holiday sale will feature fair trade gifts. Some of the items at the fair include: chocolate bars from Equal Exchange, cultural crafts through Mustard Seed, women’s accessories from Sseko, jewelry, baby gifts, alpaca winter wear, and more from Partners for Just Trade, mixes and soups from Women’s Bean Project. holidiy HoliDIY: An indie craft event hosted by St. Louis Craft Mafia. The event will include mouth-watering barbecue courtesy of Capitalist Pig, beer, live music, a fun awkward family Christmas card photo booth, and awesome finds from 25 local designers offering one-of-a-kind hand-made goods. Give a small donation to Tenth Life and get your gifts wrapped. Admission to this event is free.

Stan-Musial Musial Awards: An event hosted annually in St. Louis to celebrate extraordinary sportsmanship. The Musial Awards recognize the greatest moments of sportsmanship from around the country. Representing all levels of athletics, winners are honored for remarkable acts of class, character, kindness, perseverance and selflessness in sports. Click here to see the honorees. Tickets are $35.

shop for a cause Shop for a Cause: A festive gala event which includes food, drinks, silent auction and shopping for both men and women. A variety of St. Louis’ most creative artisans, craftsmen, and small businesses will provide attendees with a special holiday boutique style shopping experience. The fifth annual Shop for a Cause will raise funds to support the efforts of Faith that Works, a local non-profit organization, aimed at mobilizing volunteers to assist the under-served both locally and globally. Tickets are $75 or $125/couple.

art museum STL Art Museum Family Sunday: Enjoy fun family activities on Sunday afternoon. Hands-on art activities and a 30 minute tour through the galleries of the Art Museum. November tours will focus on Asian Art, the collection of bronzes, ceramics, and scrolls throughout the museum. Tours will learn about the art and cultures of Asia. This is a free event.

Though not a weekend event, here’s something cool you should check out this week:

pho-grand South Grand International Crawl: A secret food crawl through the South Grand neighborhood. From Vietnamese at Pho Grand to Thai at the King and I and Basil Spice, from Ethiopian at Meskerem to Moroccan at Baida, from Mediterranean at the Vine to Persian at Cafe Natasha, from sushi at Cafe Mochi to Italian at Mangia Italiano. The four restaurants for this tour are kept secret until two days before the event, at which time the first location is revealed to ticket holders.
