stl food trucks

We had so much fun on our first Meet The STL Food Trucks journey that we decided to take it to the streets again to meet more of our fabulous St. Louis food truck vendors. This time we mixed it up and met some of our trucks that are new to the STL scene as well as some of our longest running veterans. We can’t wait to introduce you to their flavor.

In addition to meeting some cool new STL folks, we took one for the team and taste-tested from each of their menus. 🙂

2 Girls 4 Wheels (@2girls4wheels)

2 girls 4 wheels This is a take on ballpark style food. They offer items like burgers, beer brats and cheese steak sandwiches. True to St. Louis style, they offer delicious gooey butter cake. We tried Cherish’s favorite, the pepper jack burger. It was awesome! With both the pepper jack and spicy chipotle, it sounds like it would be too spicy, but it’s actually just enough (and this is coming from someone who can’t handle too much spice).

Chop Shop (@chopshopstl)

sushi With a slogan like “Sushi from a truck, what the ?”, how could you not want to try it? Well we did, and when they say “Big Fat Sushi Rolls,” they’re not kidding. We tested out the Mini Cooper which comes with salmon, shrimp and snow crab. It’s the perfect thing to get when sitting outside for lunch on a hot summer day. The crunchy veggie spring rolls are also a delicious choice as a side.

Stely Belly (@stelybelly)

crepes A brand new truck, which has only been out on the St. Louis streets for 2 weeks. They offer a unique take on crepes, offering both sweet and savory…and breakfast! You can choose from the menu or “create your own” using a mix of ingredients from the others. We tried the Popeye with chicken, Stefan’s favorite. They were also nice enough to let us try the sweet dessert crepes. They have the Monkey crepe with bananas and strawberries and the Stely crepe with red raspberries and it’s covered in chocolate. Both are delicious!

Cha Cha Chow (@whereschacha)

taco This truck is a St. Louis food truck veteran. They’ve been around since the beginning and can be seen at pretty much every food truck gathering in St. Louis. They serve Latin-inspired food. We tried the Dos Taco Platter with the Baja and BBQ chicken. We didn’t try the beef short rib taco but that one looks awesome as well. Sam also mentioned the walking taco (served randomly at special events), which is a fried chicken tender served in a bamboo cone with cilantro lime slaw and cha cha sauce. If you see them serving that, get it quick!

Steak Louie (@steaklouie)

fries This truck is just what you would think: a cheese steak food truck. They offer a variety of both chicken and steak sandwiches. They use only regionally-grown, grass-fed Angus strip steak and to keep it true to St. Louis, they use Hill inspired sauces. They also offer loaded cheese fries if you’re not up for a big sandwich. And if you love cheese, then these are the fries for you.

While you won’t find all of these trucks at the FTF event in Tower Grove Park tonight, you can check out ShowMeFoodTrucks.com to find all of the food trucks, new and old, and follow their Twitter and Facebook pages where you can view their menus and track where they will be each day.

In the meantime, Happy #FTF! See you at Tower Grove Park tonight! In case you can’t make it tonight, here’s the schedule of all Food Truck Fridays for 2015.

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
