St. Louis Runners Guide

w. color Every time I think about running, my mind wanders to the scene in the movie ‘What Women Want’ when Mel Gibson, in his come hither voice, explains how running is the exact opposite of dating. No judgement, no dressing up, no make-up, no feeling like you’re overweight. The road just wants you to pay a visit once in a while. Well, given that today is National Running Day, I’d say it is a good time to put some rubber to pavement. Not to mention, the weather is perfect for running and swimsuit season is just around the corner.

If you are a running fanatic and would like to join a club in St. Louis, here are some really great options:

Top Running Clubs:

St. Louis Track Club – One of the biggest running clubs in St. Louis that features a variety of runs throughout the year. There is a fee associated with joining this club of $30/year.

Big River Running – Another one of the biggest running groups in St. Louis. Whether you are looking for a great race, running gear, training guides, personal coaching, and more, they have you covered.

Fleet Feet – This club is more geared towards healthy living in addition to running. So you will have access to lectures and other educational activities. There is also a $30/year registration.

Metro Milers – This is a good club if you want to venture out of St. Louis sometimes and head over to the Illinois side. In addition, they have lots of fun runs as well.

St. Louis Frontrunners – A non-competitve running club for GLBTS runners and walkers of all abilities.

Go! St. Louis – What some might only know as an annual Health & Fitness Expo is actually so much more. For example, to celebrate National Running Day, the Go! St. Louis Crew will be at Forest Park tonight starting at 5pm. Meet at the Visitor’s Center for free beer courtesy of Mich Ultra, refreshments courtesy of Gus’ Pretzels and some fun merchandise. Then join in a casual group run to support the STL Track Club.

STL Runners – Meetup group, great way to meet fellow runners especially if you are new to the area. Runs are usually followed up by dinner or drinks.

St. Louis Trail Running Club – Another meetup group that focuses on trail runs.

Maybe you aren’t quite as jazzed about running all the time, but you would run for beer or zombies or more importantly, to help find a cure for cancer. So here are some really fun options coming soon to St. Louis.
