The Voice Is Down To Ten Singers

f37c5ae0-4bfe-474d-8c3b-8ca2876c780b Before the “Battle Rounds” started on The Voice this season, I wrote about six people I thought had a legitimate chance to win the whole thing.

Of those six, only Sarah Simmons and Sasha Allen are still singing. Along with Sarah and Sasha, these eight round out the Final 10:

  • Holly Tucker
  • The Swan Brothers
  • Danielle Bradbery
  • Judith Hill
  • Amber Carrington
  • Kris Thomas
  • Josiah Hawley
  • Michelle Chamuel

I either don’t know reality singing competitions very well or I should absolutely be a judge next season on The Voice. The former is probably a much more likely possibility.

The ten each performed last night on the show. The voting results will be announced tonight. You can watch the whole episode here or you can just read further in this post to watch some clips.

Shakira absolutely loved this performance from Sarah Simmons last night. Coach Adam Lambert was forced to make a decision in earlier rounds between Simmons and St. Louisan Caroline Glaser.

Sasha Allen took on “Next To Me” for her performance. The song was a switch from the ballads she has mostly done on the show.  The switch was very well received.

I thought Danielle Bradbery could have done better on “Heads Carolina, Tails California”. Maybe I just was comparing it too much to the original by Jo Dee Messina  Considering Danielle is 16 years old, that’s probably not exactly fair. It also means that I could see her making it to the next round largely on the teen vote.

Michelle Chamuel strikes me as the most unique singer left in the competition. Fitting that she took on a Pink song. Usher called it the “performance of the night”.

Judith Hill is in a place where she may be too much of a sure thing to get the votes necessary to win this competition. She sang lead vocals on a song she used to sing as a backup singer with Michael Jackson.

The Swon Brothers gave a great performance of “How Country Feels”. They probably won’t win the competition, but you will most likely hear them on country radio next year.

Josiah Hawley did not impress very many with this performance.

Kris Thomas sang a song by Miguel. It was at least better done than Miguel’s attempt to jump stages the night before.

19 year old Amber Carrington sang a song made famous by Kelly Clarkson when Amber was only 10.

Holly Tucker decided to perform her own version of “How Great Thou Art”. It certainly showcased her voice and very well could bring in the votes needed to move onto the next round.

Maroon 5 debuted their new song, “Love Somebody” on the show as well. Would Maroon 5 even be around anymore without The Voice? The show has done more for them than any winner yet.

The results will be announced live on the show tonight and each team will also perform.
