Last night I took a mommy night off and went to see Flashdance the Musical at the Peabody Opera House with a friend. It was an amazing show that made me want to get out of my seat and dance. It reminded me of being a kid and watching the movie while dancing in my leg warmers. They were even selling leg warmers at the show! I was very curious about how they were going to handle the water dancing scene. In my opinion it’s one of the most memorable moments in the movie. I must say that I was not disappointed at all. A platform rolled out and there she was dancing in her sweet 80’s leotard with water spraying everywhere. It was great! I couldn’t have asked for a better performance, and it was right before intermission so there was time to clean up before the second half. As the show wrapped up I really wanted more, but alas the show was done. So instead, I sang Flashdance songs the whole way home.

“She’s a maniac, maniac on the dance floor.”

Sorry, I don’t think I’m quite over it yet. I would seriously recommend this show to anyone interested in a great evening in downtown. It’s playing until January 13th so you still have time. Check out the Peabody website for tickets.

If Flashdance isn’t your thing, I still recommend checking out one of the other great performances. There are so many amazing shows coming up, and with the building being newly renovated, it’s really a great atmosphere.

The next show on my list is Sesame Street Live “Can’t Stop Singing” January 24-27. Back to mommy time for this show. I am so excited!
