It’s December! And while most would think: time to close up shop, buy extra coffee and hot chocolate and hibernate in my apartment until it’s Spring again, that’s not how we roll in St. Louis.

So strap on your boots, grab your warmest scarf and head out to enjoy the holiday festivities. Here are 3 great events taking place the first weekend of December in 3 great St. Louis neighborhoods:

The 37th Annual Soulard Holiday Parlour Tour

Saturday, Dec 1st from 10am-4pm or Sunday, Dec 2nd from 10am-3pm

Soulard hosts it’s 37th annual tour, which consists of a guided tour beginning at The Gene Slay’s Boys’ Club of St. Louis on 11th St, where you will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and treats provided by local neighborhood restaurants along with a fun holiday craft bazaar. Then it’s time to hop on board a heated shuttle to visit seven historic homes decked in their holiday best with the owners available to point out the rich history, architecture and unique holiday decorations. The cost is $22 per person in advance or $25 per person at the door. Shuttles leave every 20 minutes. Tour time is approximately 2 hours.

29th Annual Cherokee Antique Row Cookie Spree

Saturday, Dec 1st or Sunday, Dec 2nd from 11am-5pm

Cherokee Street hosts it’s annual holiday event with free cookies and cider for all. Between Jefferson and Lemp, visit the shops known as Cherokee Antique Row while eating all the cookies you can stand. Then visit with Santa as he Ho-Ho-Ho’s his way down Cherokee Street playing the saxophone. Visit stlcurioshoppe.com for a list of all the great local shops if you want to plan some Christmas shopping in advance.

Maryland Plaza’s 8th Annual Holiday On The Plaza

Saturday, Dec 1st from 1-5pm

The Central West End kicks off it’s Annual Window Walk Event with a spectacular multi-cultural event showcasing holiday traditions from around the world. Along with CWE storefronts showing off their holiday-themed window displays and offering 20% discounts, Maryland Plaza will also be featuring performances from Bob Kramer’s Marionette’s at Bissinger’s and Vinnie the Mime, special appearance from Santa and his sleigh, and fun activities such as a petting zoo, holiday pony rides and a magical tree lighting. Admission is free for adults and $5 or an unwrapped toy for children.

Additionally, you can vote for your favorite holiday decorated storefront for the Window Walk and be entered to win a $50 gift certificate to be used at select CWE retailers. There will also be caroling, horse-drawn carriage rides, ice sculpting, fire jugglers, live music and holiday drinks and treats.

Jessica

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
