Zombies!

October is my favorite month of the year, because of the weather, but also because I love Halloween! Haunted houses, candy, fun costumes… what’s not to love?! So I was visiting a friend who recently had a baby boy. Her sister has a 4 month old baby as well. They were discussing Halloween ideas when it dawned on them that their babies’ names together make the perfect little baby costume idea ever (or maybe I’m biased because they’re my friends). Anyway, my friend’s boy’s initials are M.M and her sister’s baby girl’s name is Reese, so you put them together and you get…Reeses Pieces and M&Ms! So cute right?

*these are not my friends’ babies

The conversation got me thinking, it’s time to start planning for Halloween costumes. Here are my Top 5 picks for great Halloween costumes to represent 2012, in case anyone needs any help!

#1. Honey Boo Boo – Listen, this show is huge! Whether you love it or hate it, you’re talking about it. And what’s fun is because she’s a redneck and a pageant contestant, you could use pieces of both, maybe create a redneck tiara with a camouflage tutu? Also, there are Honey Boo Boo ringtones, so you can download one of them just for added effects.

#2. Ryan Lochte – Yes, I did some research and there are some red, white and blue style speedos that are pretty inexpensive. Add some gold teeth and a gold medal for accessories and Bam…winning. Although, if you really want to go all out, you could invest in one of these bad boys.

#3. Zombie or Apocalypse theme– There’s been so much talk of an apocalypse and with the zombie movies, races and even a Zombie app, it seems only natural that everyone should dress up as the dead and walk the streets all eerie-like, if for no other reason than to practice for the Mayan calendar’s predicted end of the world in December. Plus, there’s a really cool style of make-up called Sugar Skull that would be really fun and unique for the ladies.

#4. Siri – As we all know, the iPhone 5 just came out and one of the most fun features is Siri. A super fun, yet easy concept would be to dress-up as an iPhone 5 and people can press a button, ask you a question and get your very own unique responses. A simple yet one-of-a-kind costume!

#5. Gangnam Style – “Dress Classy, Dance Cheesy.” That is the motto for this new dance craze, and how excited I would be if I opened the door to a cute kid dressed in a suave little suit, bow tie and sunglasses galloping up on his fake horse asking for candy Oppa Gangnam style! Even better – for adults, add a sexy girl on each arm to accessorize your Psy ensemble.

Or if you’re low on money or none of these ideas suit you (no pun intended), you could dress as a member of the royal family and wear your birthday suit! Ba-Dum-Ching!

Happy Halloween costume hunting!

Here are some baby Halloween costume ideas too!

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
