Hamburger Mary's

After helping a friend move into her new apartment last week, she insisted she owed me dinner and suggested Hamburger Mary’s, a semi-new restaurant on Olive Blvd across the street from Pappy’s. I had no knowledge of the chain prior to going, but my friend assured me I’d love it…and not because of the food, because of the decor. And she was right!

Hamburger Mary’s is an “open-air bar and grille for open-minded people.” The decor is really unique and fun. Halfway through our dinner, they dimmed the lights and turned on the strobe lights and disco ball, not because a show was about to begin, just because they’re fun!

And it’s not just the decor, the music was fun and lively-it was like Billboard’s Top 100 Hits from the ’60s through the ’80s, but only the really good stuff. And the waiters were dancing around and having a good time, which only made the experience better.

And if that wasn’t enough, the menu is plentiful, including a mac and cheese dish (which is of course my favorite food), but as hamburger is in the name and I don’t get a good hamburger very often (sorry McDonald’s, you know I love you but…) I had to go for the hamburger. So I ordered the Guacamole “BJ” Burger with tasty ta-tas…haha that’s right, even the menu is fun! By the way, I asked for the burger to be cooked medium…and it was cooked medium.

It was all delicious, and while I stuck to non-alcoholic beverages, they have a full bar on both the 1st and 2nd floor and I saw a tip on Foursquare recommending something called the Sweet Buns Martini, which is made with Smirnoff Fluffed Marshmallow and RumChata (if you don’t remember what RumChata is: read here). Anyway, that sounds like the most delicious drink I could ever put in my mouth and I’m so excited to go back and try it, maybe on Dining with Divas night.

That’s right, they have shows too…and Bingo nights and karaoke and all sorts of other fun stuff!

So I suggest you check out Hamburger Mary’s where their motto is: Eat, Drink, and be Mary!

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
