Lunching in the Loft District-Sen Thai

Yummy Thai food makes me happy.  I love some veggies in coconut milk and Thai curry over a pretty bed of rice.  The greatest Thai I have ever had was in a strip mall in Boulder, Colorado.  The best Thai food I’ve had in St. Louis is honestly King and I on Grand.

A few weeks ago my husband came by my office for lunch. I’d been saving Sen Thai downtown for just this occasion.  I enjoyed it, but I can’t say I was wowed.  The food was good, but not amazing. My tongue did not sing, there was no happy dance.  It was really crowded, which tells me that they are well liked.  It was loud.  Weeks later that is the thing that I remember the most…it was really loud. I like to be able to hold a conversation with the person I am dining with without “what?,” “what was that” over and over again.

That being said, I do wonder if the food tasted better in Boulder because I had lower expectations for a tiny strip mall joint than I did for a crowded downtown hotspot.

Thai and Indian are my favorites, I’d love to try every single one in St. Louis! If you know of one you think will wow me, I’d love to hear about it!
