They are remaking the classic movie – Dirty Dancing, and I would like to get my predictions for the new actors public right now.  I am horrified that the new cast will be a bunch of ‘High School Musical-types’ when we really need the Swayze Swagger and the Jennifer Grey naïve, sweet, and ready to burst out of her shell kind of actors.  Good news, Kenny Ortega, the original choreographer is coming back for the remake!  I can’t wait!

Dear Producers,

Here are my suggestions for the cast.  Make me proud.  Disclaimer, ‘my vote’ is who I really want and ‘actual’ is who I think they will pick and possibly ruin (or taint) my love affair with this movie.

Frances (Baby) Houseman

My Vote:  Melanie Moore from ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’  I have to believe this could actually happen.  Jennifer Grey was not well known at the time she was cast either.  Melanie is an amazing dancer and has an uncanny ability to make people absolutely love her the first time the see her – very genuine person.  She also has a similar beauty to Jennifer Grey.  Trust me on this one producer!

Actual: Selena Gomez.  She is hot right now and will likely attract the same-aged fans the original movie targeted.

Johnny Castle

My Vote:  Paul Walker (from The Fast and the Furious).  Hang in there with me, cause I am not even sure if he can dance but I think he would be perfect.  He has the perfect combination of tough, scruff, hot, and omg eyes!  Sign him up!

Actual: Zac Efron.  He is the likely choice, because we know he can dance and he kinda looks the part.  However, in my opinion, he should look/be older.

Penny Johnson

My Votes: Julianne  Hough from Dancing with the Stars.  Amazing.  She would be perfect.  She may need to act a little more street and less sweet though…she can do it!

Other Vote: Jessica Alba.  She is stunning and can dance.  This one would be a good pick as well!

Lisa Houseman

My Vote: Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl.  No real reason why, just my vote.

Actual: Lea Michele from Glee.  I think she is the obvious choice.
