Confessions of a Cubs Fan

Cardinal Tradition As a Chicagoan transplanted in Southern Illinois, I’ve been surrounded by the enemy (Cardinal fans). My roommate is also a Cardinals fan! During my four years of “torture, I’ve learned to respect both the Cardinals and their loyal fans.

Yesterday, marked a very special moment in all Cardinal fans heart’s. You may have not realized it, but I would like to inform you of why you received that in-love butterflies in the stomach feeling at 12:16pm yesterday. That is when a die-hard Cubs fan, I, defended the Cardinals honor.

I write this knowing that most of all readers are Cardinal fans, and live in the Greater St. Louis area. I would like to make this clear to all of you, Albert Pujols will be one of the greatest baseball players ever to play the game. Any Cubs fan that argues that, is jealous. Just call them out, it’s cool. We may deny it, but just rest assure we are going to cry ourselves to sleep later.

In addition, I’m very excited at the prospect of getting Albert in Cubbie blue, but I’m rooting for him to stay in St. Louis. Not discrediting him, but because Chicago understands exactly what kind of special athlete he is and what he means to St. Louis. After all, we had Jordan, and he was Chicago.

I hope we have crossed a bridge and I will be accepted in St. Louis groups! I will still continue to root for the talented triple A baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. We are awful this year!
