Let me tell you how to relax

massage So this is a follow up to my post: tell me how to relax.

I had my hot stone massage last week at  Pur Nature Aveda Salon . It was on a day I did not have to work , which is the only acceptable day to get a massage. I got to sleep in, eat a nice, healthy breakfast of Raisin Bran, take a long shower, and feel calm before heading to the spa. So I get to the spa and my L.M.T (I think that stands for licensed massage therapist) takes me back into this room that is dimly lit with fragrant candles and there is this earthy, soothing music playing. He sits me down in a cushy chair and explains how a hot stone massage works (since I had never had any type of massage ever). So yadda yadda, massage begins.

I first lay on my back and large, warm stones are placed on specific pressure points on my back and neck and in my hands for relaxation and warmth. Then a lavender lotion, which is rich in minerals and plants such as aloe and eucalyptus is smoothly applied to my body. Then small, smooth stones that have been immersed in hot water for several hours are used to massage my legs, arms, shoulders, and neck. Then I lay on my stomach and the large stones are placed on my back along my spinal cord and again in my hands and again my legs, arms, shoulders, neck, and now also my back is massaged using these amazingly soothing stones. The pressure is firm but gentle. Not like a deep tissue massage where you feel like you just worked out. It’s like the heat from the stones brings up pains that you didn’t even know were there and then works them away. And for me, the leg massage was most heavenly.

It was 80 minutes of pure calming pleasure that I believe everyone in the world must try once in their lifetime. Now I can’t verify that it is done the same way at every spa or that every spa has such an excellent massage therapist, but I certainly believe that if you get the experience I had, you would be 200% satisfied.

P.S. My massage therapist’s name is Dennis and he works both in Illinois and St. Louis.

Jessica

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
