If we see you smoking we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action. ~Douglas Adams

Helping Hand “I don’t think you showed quiet enough appreciation for the painting job.”

“Well, I do appreciate your efforts but you got paint all over the trim I installed, I like working on the house with you. How about next time we do it together?”

“I do not need a supervisor.”  Tears in my eyes.

Those who know me know that I am not an emotional person.  I don’t cry at movies, seeing people get emotional just makes me uncomfortable.  Those who know Nate and I know that we never squabble over small stuff.  Certainly not the paint on the walls especially given that I am fully aware that I am a horrible painter and he can paint trim without tape.

Quitting smoking is not just about the physical withdrawals, those moments when you would hand over your entire bank account in exchange for a half smoked cigarette.  Those moments when you feel you could easily tape back together the cigarettes you so proudly tore up.  When your head is pounding and your heart is racing.  Knowing full well it is terrible for your lungs, yet feeling that the only way your lungs can feel right is to suck in the smoke of a cigarette.

It’s emotional too.  I’m very luck to have Nate, who this morning when I had come to my senses gave me a big hug and said it’s still worth it to quit.  It was just what I needed to hear in the moments I am tearing into him, the normally level headed woman he loves, emotions out of check and and out of control it doesn’t feel worth it.  It was good to hear from the person on the receiving end that he can take it and he will be there for me.
