“And I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I will always love you” …or until the inevitable remake is in the works.

Original Bodyguard

In 1992, Whitney Houston was already a star, but after this film was released she was instantly catapulted into mega stardom.  It provided a soundtrack that would go on to win Grammy after Grammy that year and Dolly Parton’s hit single “I Will Always Love You” got the special Whitney treatment.  The synopsis of the movie goes as such: see superstar. See superstar get stalked.  See superstar hire former FBI agent to protect her and her family.  See FBI agent and superstar fall in love.  Blah blah blah.  And for the next hour you watch as the story unfolds and find out who was really behind the threats in a plot-twisting ending.  Good stuff.

Warner Brothers has just announced that they are planning on remaking this now-cult classic.  Only now, the FBI agent has been re-written as a soldier back from Iraq that’s assigned to protect a singer.  And with today’s advancements of technology I imagine it is going to be even harder to protect the singer’s privacy. You know, paparazzi…Facebook…Twitter.

There is no word on who might get cast. The studio is looking to launch a new singer into the stratosphere with the film, and I’m not going to lie…I’m extremely curious as to see who is going to fill Ms. Houston’s Manolo Blahniks.

Who do YOU want to see portray Whitney’s character in the new flick and why?  My vote would be…Rihanna.  And why not?  She’s practically on fire right now!

This just in: as of 3:00 pm February 25, 2011, word on the street is that Miley Cyrus will portray the role of Rachel Marron….and I don’t know how I feel about that.
