So, I’ve decided to take the plunge and give my fiance’s vegan diet a try (I’m only committing myself to 30 days at a time).  I’ve never been a big meat eater and I’m allergic to milk anyway so it’s not really much of a stretch.  I don’t cook meat at home and I must say, I don’t miss it.  The challenge for me will be days when I forget my lunch and those times when I am just craving something that has meat or cheese.  He’s got a big jump on me with 9 years of meeting the challenge.  I must admit he has shown me that if you are willing to open up and try new foods it really isn’t a limiting diet.

Today is one of those days, day 2 and I’ve forgotten my lunch.  Lucky for me I know right where to head for what I’m craving today,  Gokul.  Located on Page, a couple miles west of 170, is this amazing 100% vegetarian Indian Restaurant.  This place was my very first taste of Indian food and the buffet made it A LOT less scary to try it out.  I quickly fell in love, they have a 100% vegan buffet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month.  They even have vegan Naan!!!!! (oh man do I love love love naan)  Today I will be ordering the Tiffin for Home, just $6.99 and I have never managed to eat the entire thing.

I’m curious to embark on this adventure so any suggestions of places to check out in West County that have some vegan fare are always welcome!!  I will let you know what else I find.

**If you are an Indian food addict like myself, check out the grocery store next door.  Sauces, mixes, beans, rice, snacks and great frozen food selection.   Just watch out, it the package says “deep,” it is out of this world spicy.
