How to: know if talking to your airplane buddy is a bad idea

victoria-blog

Have you ever been on a long airplane ride where the person keeps talking to you but you don’t want them to? You squirm in your seat, adjust your pillow, and hope that they get the message that you are done talking (or listening for that matter).

Or…have you ever been sooo bored and ready to talk to anyone. You want to chat it up but the person will not converse with you?

How do you know if talking is not a good idea?

1. Pay attention to what they have with them. Do they have a pillow, blanket, and headphones? They probably want to sleep.

2. Are they asking you personal questions that seem creepy and not leaving you alone? Grab the nearest flight attendant. Kidding…but serious.

3. Are they answering every question you ask with a yes or no (including: what’s your name?) Giving you all the vibes that they are not interested in chatting it up on this flight. Just let it go.

Then there are the flights that you just click with your airplane neighbor. I love when that happens! Sometimes ignoring even the hints I have listed earlier about when to not talk to someone can help. If they seem tired, make one comment, and maybe they actually do want to strike up conversation.

Happy future flying…and maybe talking.
